What interested me in this  topic is why does this stereotype remain powerful until today? Is it really a stereotype? Or an existing social issue in the Egyptian society? I personally believe that the lack of awareness that people have not knowing how dangerous it is to ditch your mother language to be fluent in a foreign language affects us and our future.  After conducting research I found out that only a few who were able to read Arabic fluently and write correctly. It was needed to develop a design contribution that breaks this stereotype. Accordingly, the target group is youth, parents and teachers, and the following is the communicative statement: Your mother language represent who you are, your identity,  and your culture.

Learning Languages

Until our present day in Egypt, the foreign language seems to most people as a cool language or a trend. Egyptians lost the ability to speak their own language, mother language. Loss of mother language is a stereotype that exists not only in Egypt but in many other parts of the world. This stereotype affects the thoughts and actions of many people, that now they cant write or read arabic because their entire life they have been thought to learn and speak English.

The Mask Typeface

Typeface inspired by a movie character 'Stanley Ipkiss' from the movie 'The Mask'. The typeface is playfull, with sharp edges representing the characters personality.
